What is E-Recording?

E-Recording — short for electronic recording — is the fast, secure, and modern way to submit real estate documents to your county recorder's office.

Instead of printing paperwork and going in person — or dealing with mailing delays — e-recording allows you to submit your documents online. With just a few clicks, your forms are securely uploaded, reviewed, and officially recorded — often on the same day.

Why It's Helpful for You

Recording your documents is a critical legal step when buying a home, refinancing, transferring ownership, or handling property matters. E-recording makes the process far easier:

Faster Service: Documents can be recorded within hours, not days.
More Convenient: Submit from anywhere, anytime.
Safer Process: Avoid lost paperwork and mailing issues.
Fewer Errors: Instant feedback helps correct issues quickly.

How It Works

  • Shanea O'Connor Services uploads your completed documents through a secure online system.
  • The documents are sent directly to the county recorder's office.
  • The county reviews and records the documents.
  • You receive a stamped copy electronically the same day the documents are recorded — no need to wait for the mail.

No more standing in line, driving to the recorder’s office, or worrying about delivery delays. E-recording keeps the process fast and stress-free.

Counties That Do Not Permit E-Recording

A few counties in California still require that documents be mailed or delivered in person. These include:

Alpine County
Amador County
Colusa County
Del Norte County
Lake County
Lassen County
Mariposa County
Mendocino County
Sierra County
Siskiyou County
Trinity County

If your property is located in one of these counties, don’t worry — we’ll take care of the submission by certified mail and ensure everything gets where it needs to go.

Whether you're a homeowner updating your property records or a real estate investor managing multiple assets, Shanea O'Connor Services, Inc. is here to make your document recording experience simple, secure, and stress-free.
